The Tavern is the hub of the weekly Tuesday market and the banqueting suite, cleverly disguised in a former sheep shed provides space for a seated dinner for 300 people. It is regularly used for weddings and events, providing evening and weekend work as well.
We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible employees who wish to work in this busy, live environment. We have a range of opportunities from cooking, serving and management, during daytime and evenings with a range of part time and potentially full time options for the right candidates.

Melton Mowbray Market is the largest town centre livestock market in the country and also holds the largest regional fur & feather auctions. We are continually seeking dedicated employees and contractors to add to our available team:
- Site staff – Varied opportunities for on site work involving traffic management, livestock droving and customer assistance on market days, market set up and close down, including washing down and ensuring other biosecurtiy requirements are always met. This role would suit farm labourers or other manual workers with spare days as well as those who do not wish to damage the benefits they can claim by working over 16 hours a week.
- Trainee auctioneers / clerks / field officers – assisting the senior auctioneers in their role by clerking and filling in for them along with office and field work to ensure animals are sourced, booked in correctly, lotted up and ensuring all the sales information flows through to service customers and our regulatory responsibilities.
